Something off topic, just sharing, and none needs to read this or any of the insignificant nobody me posts....
John was a friend of mine, known since our days at Secondary School, and had kept in contact over the years, sharing and discussing issues regularly,, over coffee at cafes or beers at night spots to chill....
He had worked hard, fingers to the bones, and managed to retire early, became a investor, unlike me...
With the looming dire threats of war in Iran, he saw an opportunity for investments for his funds. He bought USD$7 million worth of oil stocks, which was hovering around USD$70/barrel of crude, towards the end of March. Just after the mid-week of March, with the stocks that rose close to USD$100/barrel, he sold the entire stocks away and made Millions in profits, in just mere 3 weeks....far better than bank's fixed deposits on saving interests.
He is not greedy, nor an opportunist, as he often gives most of his earnings to local charities, to those whom needs it urgently, to save lives....as he said he never needs that much money anyway, living alone....
He does keeps abreast of happenings in the World, and that's how he got rich and savvy. He owns landed properties and had a number of continental cars, but he told me he would be ditching his Ferrari, Lamborghini and BMW because of the Iran war. He said that Ferrari and continental cars were made by the cowardly self serving Europeans, and would not want to be seen supporting or be associated with cowardice....
He instead had choose to buy a USA made American Muscle car - Ford Mustang instead, for joy rides. He loved that car but never bought it before because while the car gives a comfortable ride to the driver, ergonomically designed, the passenger would not feel the same, the same failure as the well know boy toy car - the Subaru WRX, but with the new models, it had grown better.
As for his other cars that he needs for official serious meetings and meet up with other biz leaders, he ditched his BMW and bought US Chevrolet instead. He told me the best was the Malibu series 5000cc models, but not allowed in Singapore. So he settled for other higher end models as GM Chevrolet had long history of reliability, performance and stocks.
The point of this post is.....up to one's free will to discern and determine, The Iran war will have direct and indirect consequences that Humankind will have to live for years to come - values, oil and economies.
