Dr Chee should stop harping on becoming a full-time MP

I understand his sacrifices as a politician, especially so when he first entered politics with a clean slate. At that time, he could have left Singapore and become a professor in some US university. I appreciate his sacrifices.

Fast forward to 2025, the dynamics are completely different. The comparison is between his current job as a restaurant owner and that of a full-time MP. If he were a professor and still employable as a professor, his offer to do be a full-time MP if elected would carry lots of weight because the opportunity would be obvious.
Yep I agree. 2025 is a long way away from 1992 when he entered politics. Fact remains he chose to stay on to fight, foregoing a better and brighter future for his family and himself. So if we compare now, we should compare it to the beginning. Now and then, then and now.

Frankly, I would like the voters in Sembawang West to think like you, and "compare it to the beginning".

We all know the Singaporean psyche : "For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him."

Singaporeans idolize and support rich and successful politicians.

I'm just a nostalgic old man lah. Sembawang West voters should consider what he and the SDP can do for them and their estate. And what he and the SDP can do for sg if he gets into parliament.

And yes, it's an unfair world. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer. One needs money to make money. A sad reality.

This arguement only appeals to the opposition sympathizers.

Not humble, it's inferiority complex.

This is why I admire my ex-mentor. She has the confidence to claim what she is not.
Precisely becos of our inferiority in real life, we need to bring confidence here by claiming credit when is due.
Of course claim what is deserving with proofs.
Not like your ex mentor, claiming things that are not worthwhile :cautious:
