Lawrence Wong miscalculated. He thought WP wouldn't go into new created GRC of Punggol with Sun Xue Ling comfortably beating WP candidate with above 60% win and also felt safe enough for ex Pasir Ris Punggol section of Punggol to be carved out to form new GRC.

He can only blame himself.

This is what I thought also. Carved-out punggol is a suicidal and high underestimate of wp.
They thought wp won't go into punggol and let sda fight but to their surprise sda withdrew.
Base on last election result sxl won tan chenchen by 60-40%.
But they neglected the fact they have a arrogant 老鼠屎put2cherry.

Punggol residents true sinkies are very angry. Everyday tons of cecas choke the estate.
 
I am sure these PAP people will now play crocodile tears...very very conniving bunch of self serving people. They aren't interested in your betterment. They are only in this race for themselves. Losing million dollar salaries surely hurt a lot...
 
Back in 2011, LKY also warned Aljunied voters about voting out GY, said SG foreign relationship with other countries will suffer. It's never the minister or DPM that matters so much. Is the top civil servants and public service officers that work behind the scene that matters.

The way punggol is being carved out shows they have little fear of losing it.

Now maybe is the only moment since punggol estate is created. They truly value punggol and respect residents as human.
If punggolians don't make the right choice now and show them citizens are the owners of this country and not them.
