Almost 9cm of rainfall was recorded in the area between 5pm and 6pm, according to the Meteorological Service's data.
This is more than the rainfall recorded during the Bukit Timah flash floods on Jun 29.
Senior business development manager Gary Haris told Channel NewsAsia that flash floods also occurred at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4 and Avenue 5.
A video taken by him shows pedestrians at a sheltered walkway in ankle-deep water.
The 44-year-old said that the flash flood began around 6pm, adding that the water "rushed down like a waterfall" at the staircase leading to a car park.

A Channel NewsAsia reader who did not want to be named said that the market and food centre at Block 628 Ang Mo Kio was affected by the flash floods as well, with ankle-deep waters. Cars and motorcycles were also partially submerged in muddy water at the car park next to the market.

A video on Facebook page Singapore Road Accident shows vehicles at a traffic junction with their wheels partially submerged.
Another video that was circulated online shows a car that had stalled in the middle of the road at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6.

Bus operator SBS Transit said in a tweet at 5.55pm that several bus services had to skip the bus stop opposite Yio Chu Kang station along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6 due to the flash floods.

Heavy rain caused flooding in several areas of Singapore yesterday afternoon. This car was stuck in a flooded stretch of Yio Chu Kang Road, outside the Church of St Vincent de Paul.
The National Environment Agency had warned of thundery showers with gusty wind expected over the northern, eastern and central areas of the island.
Updates by PUB on its Twitter page indicated that the flood risk was high on some roads.
The water agency said in a tweet at 4.47pm that flash floods had occurred at Lorong Buangkok. A community plaza in an HDB estate in Ang Mo Kio was also filled with rainwater,

I thought so too. I checked and discovered that it occurs quite regularLEE. Must check with the constituents of Ang Mo Kio. Who is the Member of Parliament of this constituency? Is he performing his duties and responsibilities as the elected MP? This is what will happen when the constituents vote in an incompetent and complacent MP. This MP must be an arrogant clown, to play with the feelings and trust of people who voted for him.

Looks like nothing more than ponding to me.

Yes, ponding and it's another 50 years gone by.
The issue at hand is why the continual recurrence. Doing something but not solving the problem speaks volume.
The PAP-led Government had spent a hefty S$1.2 billion on flood control. Do you know how many incidences of flash floods had occurred between January and June this year?

back in the 70s, the floods around Still road was more happening- knee deep water and all sorts of shit floating about.

...but not regular flash floods. Would be interesting to do a proper research on flooding in Singapore. Wonder whether any had been done previously?
