On August 21st, workers on site were using gas welding equipment to remove the partitions of the shield machine.
On the same day, the dismantling of the shielded machine in the submarine tunnel of Xiamen Metro Line 3 was successfully completed. In the section of Liuwudian Station, Wuyuanwan Station, Xiamen Island to Xiang'an Crossing Sea Passage, due to geological reasons, the Liuwudian station side is constructed with “m&d water shield structure” and the Wuyuanwan station side is constructed with “mine method”. After the shield machine successfully completes the tunneling task of the sea section and arrives at the junction of the two construction methods, the subsequent tunnel will be constructed by the “mine method”. Since the shield machine can only be moved forward and cannot be retracted, the shield machine must be dismantled to provide a working surface for the “mine method” construction. “The disintegration of the shield shell in the subsea tunnel” is the key and difficult point in the whole project.
