what do we truly value?
are the opposite of the things that we detest the things that we value? then me supposed that me value a strong and cohesive society, not one that is in tatters. simple because me detest being left out and being alone. me is a social animal.
me also supposed that me value family and friends, kinship is very important to me. this is because me detest betrayal and alienation, more so on uncouth and selfish characters. that's why me is more sentimental.
国移民为先, 民以家为本。
with the influx of more new citizen and the marriages of locals and foreigners, our social fabric is undergoing a series of changes. me wouldn't bat an eyelid if the change was for the better.
biologically speaking, gene mixing is great for our gene pool. culturally speaking, our very way of life had been facing the onslaught brought about by the influx of foreign cultures since the beginning.
problems start to show when family values get eroded due to unsound public policies, family relationship gets strained due to friction between cultural differences, etc.
at the end of the day, what do you truly value?
