Recently, DPM Tharman has been making the headlines for claiming that it is possible for people earning less than $1k per month to buy a HBD flat. This is not the first time that DPM Tharman has used funny numbers. In 2010, he claimed that the PAP government gives $460k in subsidies to low income families in Singapore. He obviously thinks that he is so much smarter than Singaporeans who he thinks can be easily fooled !

“Over the couple’s lifetime, the family can expect to receive transfers (through cash, subsidies, top-ups to CPF accounts etc) totalling about $460,000 in real terms (2010 prices). This is more than half of the couple’s expected lifetime income (in 2010 prices).

About 60% of this would comprise Government grants and subsidies for their education and skills, and to help them build up their assets. The remaining 40% would comprise support to help them meet immediate needs.”

This botak Ah Neh always like to sell snake oil lah. Just only last week, he had

"rejected WP’s suggestion to increase Singapore’s healthcare spending to 6.1% of GDP in line with other first world developed countries.

He said that if healthcare spending was to increase to this level, it would mean taxes would be raised significantly.

Mr Tharman said, “If we have to take our healthcare spending to six percent of GDP which is the wonderful average of OECD countries, what does it mean in terms of taxes? If it is GST, it has to rise to 20 percent. If it is corporate income taxes, it will have to rise to above 40 percent. If it is personal income taxes it will have to rise across the board with the top line rate moving to 60%, very high.”"

Where the fuck are his figures and statistics to substantiate what he claimed the need to increase GST to 20%, Corporate Tax to 40% and Personal Income Tax to 60%? Botak just simply create some magical figures and expect the sheep to fully believe in him. And furthermore, they're such nice figures consecutively: 20%, 40% and 60%? Don't even need to go into detailed analysis and you'll know that he had just simply cooked up those whimsical figures.

I don't know about you people, but I definitely am not going to believe a word he says in future. Really disappointed with this type of "con man" ministers we are having.
