SINGAPORE: First it was the socio-political blog, TR Emeritus, now it is The Online Citizen website (TOC).

TOC has reported that PAP MP for Sembawang GRC Mr Vikram Nair has floated the possibility of taking legal action against it.

It said this arose out of an article written by a TOC contributor, Mr Ng E-jay, on comments Mr Nair made regarding Workers' Party MP Chen Show Mao's suggestion that the government invest in people.

According to the TOC posting, Mr Nair has said he does not have any legal plans now.

And he hopes not to take legal action but if there is lingering damage he might have to consider it.

Mr Nair had said he wants to clear his name.

Responding to queries from Channel NewsAsia, Mr Nair reiterated his position that he does not have any legal plans.

Mr Nair also said he does not intend to engage in a debate with the TOC on its website.

He said this in response to TOC's invitation to him to write to them and state his point of view, which TOC said will be more than happy to carry in full on its website and it will then respond, if necessary.

雷声大,雨点小. What an anti-climax. Machiam like shouting loudly to give way while rushing to the toilet, and only to hear all the fart with no shit coming out. :D

"He said that his joke about the Nigerian scam was taken out of context when he was responding to the Workers' Party's Chen Show Mao's views on investments in social capital."
If this statement from ST is false, you need to take ST to task, legally if necessary.
If not, get out of the Parliament, period! We do not need parliament jesters on expensive salaries funded by even the poor taxpayers of Singapore and get kicked in the groin. GET OUT!

By the way, is Vikram Nair Shanmugam's protege? Shanmugam was in Sembawang GRC, then he was airlifted into a nearby GRC, replaced by Vikram. Both of them are lawyers, coincidentally of the same race.

This snake got no balls... Dare to Yaya so much but when given the opportunity to state his point, he declined the offer like a pussy... Typical PAP scums.. When cornered like a rat, these Scums will resort to threats and intimidation to defeat their critics..

Vikram was talent spotted by Shanmugam when both of them were working in the same lawyer firm.. A snake got the ability to recognise a fellow snake..

I see. So what kind of qualities did Shanmugan spot? Put it in another way: what qualities do Shanmugam have to let Vikram follow?

these are what i call political in breeding within the PAP...it will lead to its own demise

Of course political parties members in-breed. You don't expect SDP members to breed in PAP or vice versa? Naturally people with common ideas come together.

Since VN doesn't want to play with TOC anymore, let's ask him to represent KS to sue UY for calling KS an adulterer.

One thing about lawyers. They try to write something so intimidating that people give up at the first sight of reading the documents. Going to court is expensive and not productive towards the desired win result, especially when it is a non-political driven case, even in Singapore. However, to a harlem or season PRC roughneck, they will just laugh it off and be waiting for anyone coming with brass knuckles.

If Vikram Nair throws the legal letter punch on TOC, TOC could initiate a mass donation drive for legal expenses.

Vikram Nair and PAP must ask themselves a question: What is the POLITICAL PRICE to pay for this legal letter to TOC?

Well said bro! Fucking coward he is! Lot of hot air. Bark worse than his bite. TRE and TOC should take him on. Fucktard now thinks his chances of doing a Durai is slimmer now. Chen is too much of a gentleman. If I were Chen, I'll dare him to repeat his statement outside Parliament before I sue him.

He should come and sue all of us here. LeongSam will be our legal advicor.

looks o the neutral citizens that PAP just only knows how to govern by FORCE....suing suing suing...is there a point? will it win the hearts and minds of singaporeans...a crazy bunch of ELITES living in their own planets!

They could sue and sue to save their own face, but it comes with a political price. How much political price? GE2016 will tell.

It will either come with a political price or a social stability price. Already the social price has been paid though they feel it does not or has not affected them. It has and it concerns their own future generation.

Post-GE2011, Singaporeans have to learn how to handle and exploit this political awakening and breakthru. One of the things the electorate needs to catch up with is what is libel, slander, defamation, what is defensible and what is not. If we do not, then we either buckle too early when we do not need to as the law is on our side and we have a fair chance of winning, or we fight on needlessly when the tide is against us.

Vikram case vs TOC e.g. is fair to take him on. TRE case vs. Lee and HC is not.

Of cos, even if the case is with us, many of us would not want to waste our time in court and we wld prefer to settle when we need not. Bros who are familiar in this field should step up and help us with advice.
