Naked video scam -- How foolish can one get?

Hi guys, am new to this forum -- figured that this would be a good place to get a discussion going as my dad comes on to read this forum too.

Came across this story that I thought I'd get your views on this:

At least 5 people scammed by this group, who used a naked video of the victims to extort $$$ -- how can?

Don't these people know that there's no such thing as a free lunch in this world?
