The Public Service Division will be carrying out a review of the salaries of Administrative Service officers, as well as the pay of the judiciary and statutory appointment holders.

Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean says this is to ensure that the salary framework is fair and competitive.

It will also make sure that the public service can continue to get what he called "a steady flow of able and committed people".

He announced the review in Parliament.

Mr Teo said it will be completed and ready for implementation in six to nine months' time.

He also announced that from April 1st, eligible retiring Division 4 public officers will be re-employed at their last drawn salaries at their point of retirement.

These people are overpaid, their salaries and benefits should have been cut a long time ago.

Just because the lower and middle incomers have salary revision, does that call the need to have salary revision for the higher incomers and elites?

I remember a renowned speaker's advice on the importance to lead a simple life to a bunch of middle incomers. But when probed further, he claimed that he stayed in a landed property in a prime area. All his children drive their own expensive cars. Is this an example of a 'simple life'?

All goverment department must be lower 20~30% pay compare to private. Many just do nothing. Eg. TC normally sit there do nothing until month end or early of the month.

Meaning last time, Division 4 officers will get pay cut if re-employed while Minister get last drawn pay even after retire?
