Finally returned Vios to Budget RCA without incident.. 2 days total 1100 bht only... incl insurance excess coverage + weekend surcharge total costs add up to 2000 bht.. driving to Pattaya is a good option.. today having half day on my own :-p

Thonglor specialist just returned from Taipei. Basket, Monday and Tuesday public holidays, so super long weekend, so the trans-county buses were fully booked. I managed the get on to the last bus. Reach home at 3 am.

Ah.. khun Pojaman is the Thonglor expert i see. Turned out Salil Thonglor played us out saying reservation cock up, prolly bcos we arrived really late the took a chance sold our room. Transferred us to Salil Sukhumvit + threw in breakfast... all in all they did their best to redeem their sins... in the morning found out we were not the only ones who got moved to Sukumvit. This happened to us before in Madrid - excuse given was rooms leaking hence transferred us to nearby hotel + threw in breakfast. This seems to be a trick used by small hotels to maximise their chain occupancy.. fortunately in both cases the alternatives were ok and did not spoil our trip

This is not a "trick used by small hotels" but an industry practice. It's called "walking". Airlines do this too ("overbooking").

Admittedly it is not common. But it happens. Big international chains (e.g. Marriott/Hilton/Starwood etc) do it too. The difference is that international chains have policies that when they do it, they pay for the night(s) + transport when you're walked - the night's stay is free. Like the airlines, the concept is that during extraordinary demand, when they can sell a hotel room for far more than you paid, they still make money even when they pay for your free night's stay.

When it happens, it usually happens when you check in late and the hotel's sold out. And when you're not a premium guest.

I travel quite a bit so I know.

The first time last year, some time in March, or the year before, I can't remember the exact time. We lost AirAsia for the BKK-TPE route. AirAsia claimed that it was too competitive to operate between BKK-TPE as the full-fledged airlines were slashing prices. At its peak, I was able to shuttle between BKK-TPE (return tickets) for 5,000 baht ! The norm was, however, in the range of 7,000 - 8,000 baht.

Next month, another airline will suspend flights between these two cities. KLM has been the cheapest among the full-fledged airlines for flights between these two cities. For the last month of operation between these two cities, KLM is now offering return tickets for as low as 7,000 plus TWD inclusive of taxes. Sad to say, I just missed it ! KNN.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a scheduled flight to BKK (return) for 9,000 plus TWD. I managed to reserve the last ticket available.

Why every time my TG tickets BKK-TPE-BKK 15k/16k THB? Then I got to pay another about 1600 TWD from Taiyuen to Zuoying to get to Kaohsiung. Very expensive.

Bro, the norm for 1-month ticket is around 12K THB inclusive of taxes. My last trip I flew TG, and it was a 3-month ticket supposedly more expensive. I paid less than 12K inclusive of taxes.

As for Kaoshiung, why don't you fly direct to Kaoshiung ? TG and China Airlines shuttle between Kaoshiung and BKK.

I don't know when it started. But my 1st trip to KS sometime in June last year CI and TG were already flying between KS and BKK. Unfortunately, the hours are kind of odd. BKK - KS, arrival at 1405 hours (still ok), but KS - BKK departing at 0630. It's actually ONE flight, as CI and TG are combined.

It should save you plenty of hours, now with the revelation.

I have always been thinking of settling down in KS because of the convenience of an International Airport, an under-utilized MRT which is hardly packed even during peak hours, a warmer climate compared to central and north. In short, KS is every bit a modern city, but without the crowd.

THB 2000 for 2 days with Budget Car Rental is a good deal. The cost of taking a taxi from BKK/Airport to Pattaya is already THB 1.2K-1.5K.

Li went on to study psychology and sometimes appears on talkshows.
Terry Lin is still a great singer, but he mainly sings cover versions since Li was the songwriter.
The band broke up because Terry went to help in his family printing business. There was also a rumour that the 2 had fallen out.
Their best song is "Ren Cuo" or "Admit Mistake".
