Mr Khaw: "Shortly after the Workers’ Party (WP) announced its decision to expel Mr Yaw Shin Leong, People’s Action Party (PAP) chairman Khaw Boon Wan turned up the heat on the opposition party yesterday, questioning its “sudden U-turn” on the allegations of infidelity against Mr Yaw.

Speaking to reporters, Mr Khaw noted that, only last Saturday – when the WP held its Chinese New Year dinner – the party’s leadership stood “shoulder to shoulder in solidarity” with Mr Yaw. On Mr Yaw’s expulsion, Mr Khaw said: “Is this an attempt at trying to conceal something they knew, first through silence, and then when they found it is not possible, then they get rid of the liability and blame everything on him?”

The PAP is making all these U-Turns due to the poor results in the last GE. There's a risk that the 40% who voted against them may vote for the PAP following such U-Turns. If they do, and PAP garners 75% at next GE as a result, then it will make all the U-Turns again and back to their exploitative policies of the middle and lower income groups while enriching the rich. I hope the 40% will not fall into this trap and to remember that whatever U-Turns the PAP is making now is what they should have done all along and what we deserved and entitled to as citizens. In other words, the PAP is only making good what they have been owing us all these years. In fact at the next GE, more of the 60% should cross over so as to keep up the pressure on PAP to make even more U-Turns on their greedy policies.
