These selfish souls will never wake up for many of them also benefits alot by being ball carriers of the PAP.. I once encountered a young chap in his early 20s who was on his way to a PAP rally last May..I asked him who will he be voting for during the elections.. Straight away with a smile, he said that he'll be voting for the PAP since he is also a RC member.. He said that by joining the RC and mingling with his fellow PAP supporters, he managed to get a well paid job right after his Poly graduation and its only right for him to give his support to the ruling party in the GE... As long as Sporeans are selfish and only think of themselves, PAP will rule Spore for many years to come..:(

Miss, you can't really put the blame of rising costs on the PAP. In all highly (and less) urbanised places over the planet, their residents have seen cost of living increase. Over the years, salaries have increased too - although for many, not the same percentage as the things they have to pay for. You could blame the government for some things, but it is not correct to blame the cost of living entirely on them.

The cost of property is directly related to HDB setting the benchmark when raising prices of supposedly low-cost housing and the availability of CPF to housing purchase.

Easy money, whether it is the availability of easy funds or a low interest rate certainly has a major part to play in raising property prices and so are things like increasing stamp duties or charging capital gain tax a way to achieve the opposite. Government policies certainly have a big part to play in this.

I know this "subsidised" housing thing has become a "speculative" thing. Buy low - sell high. It's the players in the "game" that have cause the greatest increase. I think those who have pocketed cash love it. And are still doing it. When HDB started, it was low cost housing. The game has changed. I feel sorry for the young who want to start a home, but as soon as they get into the game, they eye the profits too.

A caring government wouldn't care about building "designer" upper-end homes. They'd instead cater to the lower (or no) income group; without compromise on quality.

Well, the majority voted for more "good" years.
