dun want to enter politics:(:(:(

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, the son of Singapore's founding father Lee Kuan Yew, said Thursday that he does not think that his children will enter politics.
"They will have to decide but if you ask me now I think the odds are not on it," he told the Davos meeting of business and political elite.
"It's a different generation, it's a new world, there are so many opportunities in Singapore," said Lee.
Lee, who has four children, took office as the island state's third prime minister in 2004.
His father led Singapore to political independence and economic prosperity during a 31-year run until 1990 as prime minister, and remained in cabinet under his son until last year.
Asked what it was like living under his father's shadow, Lee said: "Well, I don't know. I've never not had it. It's tough enough, but you have to live with it."
Lee said his illustrious father "had expectations, but he left me to do my own thing. He did not push me into this, and neither would it have worked had he done so."
The elder Lee announced his departure from cabinet shortly after the ruling People's Action Party polled its worst results in the 2011 elections.
The party lost an unprecedented six seats out of the 87 at stake and its share of the vote fell to an all-time low of 60 percent from nearly 67 percent in the previous election in 2006.

yeah, when they see their father and grandfather being ridicule in the net , i dun think they want to be part of that. But i guess they just dunno that if the person is unsinkified, the cyberspace will honour such people, just that their family is sinkie so that is what they get.

btw, who the fuck care if your sons and daughters wanna be in politics or not.. what are you trying to prove? that no matter what dumbfuck sinkies still vote them in for the next 1000 years? what a sinkie low life mindset. well ... that is how the whole population are being polluted by this kind of dumbfuck sinkie. Your PM wahahahahhah!!!!

FamiLEE = Power

This FamiLEE loves the feeling of having Power and Authority... Without that, they would feel lost... They don't need the money.. They have tonnes of it.. They are too addicted to having Power.. After decades of the FamiLEE being in power, do you think they would easily relinquish their power to an outsider even if the latter is also from the PAP..???
Don't take Pinky's words seriously... Who knows maybe in 4 years time we might see Li Hongyi contesting in Tanjong Pagar replacing his Old Fart grandfather who would have already up the lorry by that time...

>Lee said his illustrious father "had expectations, but he left me to do my own thing. He did not push me into this, and neither would it have worked had he done so.">

Did his nose grow longer, when he spoke this sentence??

Without power is very dangerous. Go and see Chen Shui Bian as example. After he stepped down, all the shit hits the ceiling.

How do pass down to his children when the predecessor is incompetent and a proxy PM. How many past Chinese dynasties have collapsed when they were passed down to an incompetent Crown Prince?

You talk as though GIC, Temasek or CPF money will be taken away by the Lees once they leave the political scene. I bet my $100,000 with you if you dare. There are three keys to unlock the reserves - the PM holds only one of them.

The true fact is that governing Singapore - building it from 3rd world to 1st world, from toilet bucket system to gleaming shopping malls - is a thankless job to some 40 per cent of the population. Fortunately the majority especially the first generation appreciate it as they have lived through those turbulent years.

Better for the Lee's children to be CEOs of some multinational company and earning much more, and living with a more thankful job than to be an MP or Minister. Their children have made a wise choice.

Only when the country became a shamble, where different ethnic races quarrel over little things like Christians feeding poor Muslims in a Church, will these 40% pine for a Lee to take over again.

Remember the Chinese proverb : 富不過三代(富不过三代)
The first generation works extremely hard; the second generation is reaping the benefits; the third generation squander the wealth.

The 40% of Singaporeans are already reaping the benefits. They want more and more instant gratifications. The third generation is festering if they continue bickering over little things like SMRT trains delay for 5 minutes, or bus fares increasing by 5 cents!

Many don't believe in the the fishing village myth :)
Raffles picked Spores because of it's strategic location, it's natural deep harbor, etc It was the british who developeded Spores entrepot trade, civil service, laws, etc & not LKY:D

If you look at our poor neighbours. In many ways they have caught up with Spore e.g. they have an MRT system , world class airports,.....i.e. they are getting their act together & outsmarting the PAP. While Spore is taking steps backwards e.g. overpaid gov't forcing many companies to relocate elsewhere, reckless importation of cheap labor causing unemployment among citizens, casino's causing social problems, unequal distribution of income(GINI), poor planning causing floods, etc

Sadly there are no Spore created MNC's. We only have GLC's & they can't compete outside Spore. It is very unlikely that any in the Lee family would succeed in a 'TRUE' MNC. If such a beast exists we would already see it happening.

Of course Singapore was no fishing village when we broke up with Malaysia. The Old Man himself hailed Singapore as the New York of Malaysia while KL was Washington DC. Words from the same man. So how could it be a fishing village.

"We make sure that everybody starts with some chips in life, you don't start with zero. If you're poor in Singapore, it's no fun, but I think you're less badly off than in any other country in the world, including in the US," said Mr Lee.

I support you. All our descendants should be slaves to familee for giving us food and shelter. Ask not what the familee can do for you but what you can do for the familee. I am willing to trade places with them anytime.
