Runaway maid raped by 'good Samaritan'

An Indonesian domestic worker, who ran away from her employer's house, ended up being raped by the "good Samaritan" who had given her shelter.

The 24-year-old woman met the man when she went to the Immigration Department to surrender herself the day she left her employer's home in Kota Baru, Kelantan.

The office was closed by the time she arrived and the 61-year-old man, who collected cardboard boxes for a living, took her home to live with his family.

However, he took her to various locations during the six months and raped her.

Kota Baru Deputy OCPD Supt Idris Abd Rafar said the man had threatened the woman that the authorities would arrest her and this prevented her from leaving.

The woman was reportedly raped about four times a week and sometimes twice a night.
