Why Not Work For A SAT Score

Even if it was discussed before, new people, new initiatives, fresh ideas provide different perspectives now. so no harm taking a fresh look of the education system. What were discussed before?

I dono whether Princeton, Yale, MIT, Harvard should be a consideration too. NUS is cheaper ? Why stick to the old racing track (NUS) ? Go F1 mah. Forget about JCs !

It still doesn't mean you can't educate your kid in a different way. You seem to have a gripe about all this because you can't be bothered trying to educating your kid and would prefer the SG education to do it for you.

Obviously you are wrong. I dont have any kid. I hope that SG education can be improved to benefit Singaporeans. Is that wrong?

If you had followed my comment #3 then you would have known that is the Ivan Illich's and is not just a SG "schooling" problem.

How long have you been away from SG education system? what do you know specifically abt the system? what details of the system have been good? is SEM good?

I've been through 12 years of it, I think I qualify to say something about it. What about you?

there's no problem with sg education in terms of math, science, engineering and technical vocations. there is however a serious problem with basic english education as displayed in full glory here in sbf.

How long you had been in SG's education system is not really important. I asked you how long you have been away from the system because you obviously dont know what you are talking abt. How come you avoided that question? You cld be in a SG system for 15years, but if you had been away from it for 5yrs, you have no credibility.

Do you know what's IP, IB, etc?

This thread about the education we are getting here is very warranted.Myself had my early education in a two different environment.A boarding school and our typical Sinkie system.And I can vouch how contrived our system of schooling in Singapore is.I have family members whose children are being educated in different countries.....Hence a chance to physically witness the vast difference that shows in their interactions with me.

One thing clearly shows.A robust child born and schooled in Singapore with all their natural inquisitiveness and playfulness is totally lost from the day after their primary one.Whereas I had witnessed a nephew schooling in Canada and another born in Singapore but now studying in Brunei can hold their grounds against an adult outsider.Whereas my Sinkie nephew shrivels and shrugs away not wanting to confront anything.These are empirical evidences.

If you are still in it then you have my condolences to the mental anguish you are expressing now. I hope you eventually cope with it and don't suffer any long term mental illness out of it. Like what Sam said, some made, some don't.

My point from the beginning has always been that schools, regardless of which country you are in, are not perfect and deschooling society merely highlighted how its been designed from the beginning to institutionalised society. Ergo, maintaining the status quo.

Thanks for your encouragement...I am not afraid of the distractors becuase they are showing how ignorant they are of SG's Education system.

I suspect they are dinosaurs who have been out of SG, do not keep themselves abreast of current affairs and read only what MSM and pap say

It is so sad to see SG children so stressed out by the antiquated system and parents forking out abt $1000 a month on tuition , doing what MOE and the schools shd be doing
