For once, our first PM did something right

With that unsteady gait seeing our first PM in this manner just shows that no one can combat nature. I don't think he can now jog a few kms daily in the Istana ground with such physical condition. My sympathy.

nah beh, he 88 already, how many 88 yo can still be like him, pumped full of tonics?

From the state money ? $ 3 mil is for his psychiatric treatment. "Ah ! I feel so good already." LKY counting money printed in his banks' statements.

He does not deserve sympathy.

Sympathy for the Old Fart? Do u know how many doctors of the best kind are attending to him everyday. Do u know how many assistants the Old Fart has to help him out with all the physical chores? Do u know his office is being renovated to specially accomodate his physical ailments. And do u know all these are being financed by the taxes we the people pay?

You know who are those who truly needs our sympathy. It is the elderly folks who due to the neglect of the state to care for them are now left to hunt for empty drink cans, sell tissues and pick up discarded cardboxes. These are the very people who helped build up this nation and yet are living improvishingly since the PAP prefers to look after foreigners than its own citizens. I once bought some tissues from an old lady who was limping on both legs at a hawker center. She was so grateful she asked for permission to sit down at my table. After she sat down she started weeping and related how she can't afford her monthly medical bills. I asked her why she did not seek the govt's help? She said she tried and many at the hawker center had in fact helped her to make representations to her MP. But because she has a son who earns $1000 a month as a dishwasher, she was denied. This son has a family of four to feed with school-going children so how much cash can he spare this old lady? No, LKY doesn't deserve any form of sympathy. Not for what he has done to these people who had given their prime of their lives to build S'pore up and are now being looked down by him. Talking about S'poreans being ungrateful. He's the real one who is ungrateful.

Old people tend to feel more insecure and will not want to have their personal stuff out of sight, even if it means a brief visit to the toilet.

Never seen an uncle bringing his "briefcase" to the loo

I agreed with you. I would really like to be able to sympathise with the old man but this was not possible.

Living in Singapore, I had witnessed far too many cases of old men and women who had to wake up at 4/5 am to clean tables, office toilets and collect cardboards for a living. This included old people I knew of personally. These cases were also highlighted on SDP websites many times. They were real people and there were alot of them. Things were very wrong and sad.

And those old folks had not WKS to lift up a hand for them
