I had one ex-colleague who worked in SMRT's engineering (sometime from 2001 to 2005). He said when SawPH joined, she interviewed all the department heads. Those who cannot explain what they did were asked to leave. As you know, sometimes those good engineering people don't speak (or flatter) very well.

all the older head of department were one by one forced to retire to be replaced by her cronies either from DFS or other people she knew. For example not long after she came in, she got rid of the 2nd top person and replace his position with her former right hand man at DFS who was just a lowly manager previously. She started replacing very experience head of department with young new birds who never had experience leading department before but were people she was acquainted with. Two example was one young accountant from singtel who became the CFO and another young assist mgr at Energy market company who she appointed as head of Corporate affairs. Many of these young birds only stay a year or 2 leading to alot of mess. You go check at smrt.com.sg, most of her current management team are still young and inexperience people.

Yeo Meng Hin. He was just a lowly assistance hr manager at DFS. His monthly pay would not be more than $10,000 at DFS but jump 10 times when SAW appointed him as 2nd in power. What does a HR guy know about train & bus management??? Anyway Yeo soon replace a 20 year experience IT director with his friend from Maybank who was just a malaysian IT team lead at the bank. This led to massive chaos as the malaysian IT guy wanted to cut cost for everything to the point of cutting half of all the lighting in the IT department. He even insisted anyone who use the toilet must switchoff the light after use leading to embarrassing incident of people stuck in darkness in the loo!

SMRT Corp president and chief executive Saw Phaik Hwa was paid $1.85 million in cash and shares for the year ended March 31, up about 11 per cent on the previous year.

Deputy president and chief operating officer Yeo Meng Hin earned $1.04 million, an increase of about 7 per cent.

This made Mr Yeo, who left SMRT on April 20 'to pursue personal interests', the second-highest paid executive in the company

SINGAPORE: Commuters will be able to do some Christmas shopping at two train stations just by using their mobile phones.

SMRT launched its first QR code shopping wall on Wednesday at two stations - Bugis and Boon Lay.

This transforms some of the wall spaces at these stations into virtual "shops" where commuters can make instant purchases.

What's required is a QR code reader, which is installed in most phones, or widely available for free in the latest mobile platforms.

SMRT, which is working with supermarket chain Cold Storage, said commuters can use their mobile phones to order items such as a roast turkey or honey baked ham for their Christmas party.

The orders can be delivered to them and the last day for orders is December 20.

Commuters on Monday morning & the trains gets disrupted again, must commit 'harakiri' for they get what they ask for! Don't worry folks, the retail stores at the MRT stations are working well, but the trains, you have to ask the question yourself " will I be late, for (1)work, (2)meeting (3) Business deals or (4) Visit to the doctor's? Anyway, you have a valid excuse for your boss, after you had down too much booze Sunday night, you are late, you say " the train broke down again". That is valid! ha ha ha

Given that SMRT is a monopoly, given the increase in ridership due mainly to huge population growth, given that the government has given large quantity of land to SMRT, given that bus services have been terminated to force people to take MRT, the share price should have gone up 10 times.
