SINGAPORE: MRT train services between Marina Bay and Orchard appear to have broken down Saturday morning -- two days after a major breakdown on the North South Line.

When contacted by channelnewsasia.com, an SMRT media spokesperson said SMRT was looking into the matter.

Various social media reports filed by commuters travelling on MRTs said train services have been disrupted.

MediaCorp hotline caller Jeannie said she and other passengers -- who were in a train near City Hall -- were asked to evacuate the train after "the doors got stuck".

Ms Jeannie said the passengers had to walk along the underground train tunnel.

The reported breakdown came a day after SMRT CEO Saw Phaik Hwa apologised for Thursday's glitch which affected 127,000 passengers, including 1,000 trapped in each of the four stalled trains.

Good luck to you if you are taking the MRT train to/from the city area (Marina/Orchard) on Xmas Eve, and a breakdown occurs.

More people inside train = less oxygen for you.

aren't these nincompoops good at spinning gimmicks? declare one "No MRT Day" or "No MRT Week" and get the faults fixed, then have a "Free Ride Day" or "Free Ride Week" to appease those angry crowds. Make sure proper checking & maintenance done hor...

Have to go down Orchard Rd, have to use the train, they bloody removed all the bus services I could take from where I am that serve as an alternative to Orchard Rd. How?

Looks like I have to take a taxi down to Orchard Rd for an appointment, maybe that is what they want us to do.

Update: now time is 11.12am. I boarded the train from Tampines towards Joo Koon and the train service stopped at Raffles Place and everyone was asked to alight. The stupid train then simply stop here without moving off. What the fish.
