The population boom in Singapore will not affect the quality of housing available to its citizens according to Deputy Prime Minister Tao Chee Hean.
“Even as our city becomes more populated, we can still, with good design and planning, build facilities for our residents. We opened Punggol Waterway just a month ago and built a park around Punggol to illustrate that we can still find the space for good-quality housing for Singaporeans” he said.
The MP for Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC was at the opening of the 1.2km Punggol Point walk. Located next to the Punggol jetty the walk features a viewing area, children’s playground, an events plaza and two lily ponds. A 2.5 km nature walk is expected to be completed next year in Punggol.
The parks and walk areas are being built to help residents escape the population boom and urbanisation in Singapore. Future residents of Punggol are excited about the changes happening in the area.
“(The area) has a very nice view, compared to 10 years ago, when it was just a beach” said Anthony Tan who is moving to Punggol in February.

There you have it folks, right from the horse's mouth. Get ready to be squeeze even more, rise in property prices, more crimes, more suicides and more misery.:oIo:

The population will go beyong 6.5mil, and look towards pulau ubin. I will slap myself if it doesn't happen:rolleyes:

its now hovering around 5mil.

i expect 6mil to be a ceiling...then burst through to have 6.5mil - to finish around 7 ~ 7.5mil.

URA Masterplan 2000... Already earmarked South-Eastern Pulau Tekong, the area clearly marked for future residential development...

So, The MRT lines will go to both islands...Pulau Ubin and Pulau Tekong.... 2030 n beyond..

Happy waiting....

on top of that...they are gonna build 50 storey HDB soon...already now the norm is 40 storey except in areas where it is not possible for security reasons.

topping another 10 storey x 4 units = 40 units x Y number of blocks can provide sizeable "pigeon" holes. Moreover, the standard size of 5-rm flat is now around 100sqm...expect this to go down to 90 or 80...

HDB price increasing, Sqm decreasing.

hang on guys, we the govt will relocate the locals to pulau ubin or pulau teking. those FT/PR will live in the main island.

im sorry the govt will not waste so much funds to accommodate 2nd class citizens.

Very true but anywhere stated this will be for local peasants? Most likely only wealthy Ministers, Elites and FT's will stay whilst peasants will work there as cleaners and security guards and think they are privileged.:D:D:D
