Thai people rises against their KING

Isn't the situation similar to the UK where their royalty doesn't exactly run the country but they still get accorded respect?

Good morning Jah, you so early is it you didn't sleep last night?

Oh i slept already. There are some days when i don't need to sleep much at all. 5 hours on some days is pretty normal for me.

Same same here for me 5hrs is about right been like this since my poly days. You have a nice day.

For many decades after being coronated, the Thai King managed to pull the wool over the thai people with his acts of benevolence, a patron of the commoners, especially for the farmers and so on. As Confuseous pointed out earlier, these are just wayangs to win over the hearts of the people when actually, beneath all that kindness, is a very cunning and scheming man. A man who wants to hold sway over its people regardless of who the PM is; such that allegiance is only paid to him. But cracks start to appear during the nineties as the people became more sosphicated in thinking and analytical. And when Thaksin came into the scene, he did what the King has been doing all this while, like helping the poor in the agriculture sector many a times with cash. The King felt his role being usurped and threatened. The rest is what you've seen unfold between the Yellow and Red Shirts. The King is behind it, many thais know it. And that's why his popularity has been waning. It will look like the monarch era will end with his death. I believe the thais have had enough of this.

I'm sure there must be revolution first before this can occur correct? In any case i hear that it's cause of the king that thailand is united. If he dies some ppl have mentioned that thailand will split?

Who knows the northeast issan region would merge with cambodia or laos, the central part would remain as thailand, the northern part with china or maybe not and the western part with burma and the southern part with mudland?

I hope not, If that were to occur well the thailand of that future would be very different from the thailand of today and i believe it would be for the worse.

Could well be a revolution first. The Thailand of today is vastly different from the past. Many do not regard the King as an unifying force anymore. In fact, many see him as an obstacle, knowing that he has put himself in the path of democratic reforms for self-preservation. The Thais also know that he had not asked the army to act against the Red Shirts and Thaksin because his son, the Crown Prince is bankrolled by Thaksin and therefore beholden to him somewhat. If not, the King would have simply ordered the army to put Thaksin away for good. I don't think if the monarch ends and a republic born, those in charge will so easily give away Thailand's sovereignity to neighbouring countries. If you know the Thais well, they will fight to the end for their country, with or without a King. It's in their nature, and not because of the King.
