First off, I find it rather amusing that the HDB chose to name this huge, modern project after a city that is basically screwed.

For the past decade or so, Italians, especially Venetians, have been worrying about the fact that Venice is sinking. In the last century, the city has actually sagged almost 28 centimeters.

Venice averages about 100 floods a year, and the local population is actually shrinking as more and more people are moving away.

Then there’s also the matter of completely ineffective parallels. Venice is a city steeped in over 10 centuries of art, culture and history. Its canals and waterways form the backdrop for Vivaldi’s operas and Shakespearean plays.

They are trying to hard sell Punggol.
Woody did mention Punggol 21 some donkey years ago.
Till today there are not much developments there compared to Sengkang.
Public transport sucks , no major shopping mall.

This PAP has lost its pride to be uniquely Singapore style. Must always look at Westerner arses to name their townships.

Alas, how can a bully be unique! they only know how to intimidate and bull dozed opposition ward even through they won the opposition ward from the opposition, like Hillview Ave Estate.
