If the East India Co. did not set up shop in Malaya, our forefathers wouldn't have come here and chances are we'd be working in sweatshops in the Pearl River Delta.

Many forces worked and shaped history along the way, however the name that comes to my mind is Stamford Raffles.

Names that followed later merely took the baton and ran with the flow of world progress. Some were smarter to make the media work to their favour.

what decided the fate of our forefathers and us was the Chinese Communists victory in 1949. if the Chinese Nationalists won, chances were the vast majority of Overseas Chinese in South East Asia will all return home.

There were two East India companies - British East India and Dutch East India. They decided how this part of Asia was split up. The British took everything from India to North Borneo, the Dutch took Indonesia. Not only Singapore but India and Malaysia were founded by the British. Indonesia was founded by the Dutch. The only country that was already country before British colonization was Burma. The rest were a bunch of loosely associated feudal fiefdoms or no-man's lands.

The foundation was built by the chinese, indian and other migrant descendants for the British and Dutch to enrich themselves. Do you actually think the manpower sent here toiled under sun?? Yes..perhaps. Sun-tanning themselves outside their Nice British/Dutch Clubs (Who built those?) discussing how to legitimise themselves by giving away titles and deeds to the Native Malays while the others learnt how to adapt and survive. If you do not have your ancestors to give you a true account of what happened at that period of History.. take a walk around the museum.. look at the pictures taken by Brits.. look carefully who are the labourers, the ones that toiled under the sun baked to look like Native Malays..
After WW2.. the Brits and pretty much Europe were BROKE (as usual)... overtaken by the rise of America.. and had to exit Asean. Please dun try to tell me they did that out of Altruism. luffable.
