Anyone still listen to Cantonese Opera? For me, I remember going to People's Threater with my late Grandma to listen to 粤曲 when I was a kid.

Never enjoy any Cantonese Opera, maybe except this one!

Think of Yam Gin Fai and Bak Xue Xin. The whole Dai Lei Fa consist of few sections. Very rare to find any Cantonese Dai Hei now.

I am a great fan of Cantonese songs, but not a fan of the tong tong chiang stuff that my grandmother likes. But thanks for the thread. Its much better than Mandarin junk.

Yam Gim Fai was a woman, was sHE gay? Throw in Lei Heong Kum, Leong Seng Por, Tang Pak Mung, Sai Mai Cai, and so forth. Those days, there were no TV, Internet, VCR etc., street operas were the entertainment, together with the street hawkers which provide a cancophony plus sights, it was a carnival of some sorts. I have watched, Cantonese, Teo Chews, Hokkien, Hainanese & whatever, do not even understanding what is spoken, but was an education of style & coustumes of the different dialects...ah yes! Peking operas also.
