Jet from Manchester slides off runway in Munich Two hundred passengers were on board the jet Two hundred passengers flying from Manchester to Germany escaped unhurt after their plane slid off the runway in Munich.
The Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-300ER veered off the runway on landing at 12:10 local time, coming to a rest on grass.
The flight, SQ327, left Manchester at 09:00 GMT and was due to depart Munich for Singapore at 13:10 local time.
Alternative arrangements have been made for passengers travelling to Singapore.
A Singapore Airlines spokesman said no emergency evacuation had been needed.
He said the cause of the incident was not known but the airline would co-operate fully with an investigation into the incident.

A family on their way to start a new life in Australia have told of their lucky escape after their plane crash-landed.
Stuart Camm, 36, wife Rebecca, and their two children Liam, 13, and Maice, 10, were on a Singapore Airlines flight from Manchester yesterday when the drama happened.
The family, from Moston, were among 158 passengers and crew on the Boeing 777 jet headed for Singapore.
As it landed at Munich to pick up more passengers it slid off the runway and on to a grass verge.
The passengers were evacuated by firefighters. Nobody was hurt but it forced the closure of one of the airport’s two runways. Stuart’s mum Teresa Camm, 70, also from Moston, said he called her from the airport moments after the drama to say they were all safe.
The family were on the first leg of their journey to Perth, to start their new life. Teresa said: “He seemed a little shaken up but he said they were all fine and they were relieved about that.
“He said the flight seemed absolutely normal. The plane seemed to come down normally and they didn’t know anything was wrong until after they landed when the plane ended up on the grass. It must have been terrifying for them. I was so worried when I heard about it and can’t stop thinking about it now.” A spokesman for Singapore Airlines confirmed the incident on flight SQ327 and said an investigation had been launched.
He said: “A Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-300ER operating between Manchester and Munich veered off the runway on landing at Munich Airport and came to a rest on grass.
“Singapore Airlines will co-operate fully with authorities in their investigation.”
Peter Pruemm from Munich Airport said it was unclear why the plane slid off the runway.
Alternative flights were being arranged for passengers needing to continue to Singapore, the spokesman added.

04:47 AM Nov 04, 2011MUNICH - Munich Airport said a Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-300ER slid off its south runway after landing yesterday.
Flight SQ327 slid off the runway into the grass shortly after touching down at 12.14pm (7.14pm Singapore time) on arrival from Manchester, England.
None of the 143 passengers or 14 crew were injured.
A number of passengers reported that the aircraft touch down was unusually hard, and that it had veered to the left exiting the runway, then veered right and crossed the runway before coming to a standstill off the runway on the right.
One of the airport's two runways remained shut at press time, and was expected to cause major delays and some cancellations at Germany's second-largest hub.
The cause of the accident has yet to be determined, the airport said. Agencies

An Associated Press report quoted an airport official saying that firefighters had to evacuate passengers from the emergency exits and using portable staircases, but there was no obvious damage to the Boeing 777.
The SQ 327 flight left Manchester at around 9am and arrived in Munich just after noon. It was scheduled to depart from Singapore at 1.10pm, but did not do so after the incident.
Some passengers said the plane reportedly had a hard landing and veered left and right before coming to a stop on the grass, according to agency sources.
The airport had shut one of its two runways to remove the plane.
The closure is expected to cause some delays and cancellations at Germany's second-largest airport hub, but it hopes to reopen it at around 9pm Munich time last night (4am Singapore time today).
SIA said alternative flights will be arranged for passengers who were supposed to have continued on the flight back to Singapore.
The airline also said it will cooperate fully with the authorities to investigate the cause of the incident.
