I do receive "accolades" at times from the opposite sex, but from the same sex? Maybe it's just me then.

It depends on the context. If your so-called accolades came from opposite sex in the entertainment circle where you were the customer, then take it with a pinch of salt.

When a person of the same sex thinks you're handsome, it's a real thing because the norm is for the same sex to compare and compete against each other. It's like a praise from your enemy.
