It seems that I may have no choice but to complete that article which I am reluctant to publish...

As for TJS, I think he has missed the point totally. There is no concrete plans, no political platform, no pa...rty based, no seats but he started to talk about coalition government. It is quite bizarre for me.

If LTK of WP talked about coalition government, I might buy that because at the very least, he has six seats in parliament. Whether we like it or not, LTK as the leader of WP with the most seats, would be regarded as the leader of such opposition coalition of any kind.

TJS won only the base opposition supporters' votes; even though it may be 500K votes but it is just nation wide 25% core opposition supporters voting. Most importantly, he won these votes not because he is TJS but because he played the cards of hardcore opposition, seen to be the one "representing" (note, not leader) opposition in this PE.

He may gain some political mileage in gaining nation wide publicity and recognition but the truth is, he is unable to win over the "opposition-leaning" middle ground which has basically shifted to TCB and TKL.

We know, we can't win any seats just by winning the core opposition votes. We need to win over the middle ground. Thus, in all realistic considerations, I do not think he could well become a meaningful leader of any opposition coalition because he has proven that he could only garner the hardcore opposition votes but not the middle ground.

The disappointing is that he has used an irrelevant comparison of 500K votes vs WP's votes in GE. He should be comparing ALL votes which go to Opposition as a whole in GE compared to his 500K. That would be more meaningful comparison to keep his head leveled. Even with that, it doesn't include the Tanjong Pagar GRC vote count.See more

Well I totally agree with GMS analysis. At the end of the day whether any coalition will happen or not depends on whether WP says Yes or No. Like I said in the other thread. WP has more to lose if they found a coalition and little to gain unless the other parties actually manage to win seats on their own in the next GE.
