ex-PAP MP Ahmad Magad cautioned people against voting for who they consider is an underdog just because a certain candidate appears to be leading.
Though he did not mention any names, he is likely to refer to PAP-endorsed candidate Tony Tan who is widely tipped to win the contest.
揥e are voting an individual to the highest office of the land, and should seriously think about who is best qualified for and can honourably carry out the job. As Singapore is a small country, the outcome will affect the confidence foreign investors have in us if they realise that the wrong person has been voted in,?he said.
Former PAP minister Chng Jit Koon urged Singaporeans to be more rational when casting their votes tomorrow, saying he is concerned at the possibility of an 憉nsuitable?candidate emerging as the next president.
He publicly endorsed Tony Tan at his lunch-time rally by quoting his experience heading various ministries for more than 20 years and took a jibe at 揷ertain?candidates who pledged a more 揷onfrontational?stance if elected.
