Currently, it seems like Tony Tan is the favorite to win this 4-man race. Have not been able to obtain much information about the other candidates from the newspapers. Can someone list out the pros and cons? Thanks.

It's clear that TKL started scheming after the presidency since his fallout with NTUC and PAP. It's also clear that TJS harbors personal grievance against GCT and PAP for the way he left civil service too. Both are in this for revenge. TKL is at least better in his opportunism that he had actually did some good for minibond victims. TJS had done nothing except raising rhetorics jumping around SDP and now out of it for PE just because he couldn't win in GE. Conclusion for die-hard anti-PAP voters, TKL should be the choice.

TT is admittedly the PAP annointed candidate but hat hasn't been the case all along as it was supposed to be a Malay turn for president this time. TT was also roped in last minute when it became obvious that TKL would contest. No Malay candidate in PAP ranks could possibly beat a Chinese like TKL in a nationwide poll and they had no way of disqualifying TKL. TCB is also obvious and second PAP sent to split the votes.

TJS last minute jumping into the ring is a bonus for PAP. That's why they qualified him even without the $100m paid-up criteria. Conclusion for voters voting for the nation instead of against PAP, TT should be the choice. Having another PAP president in Istana would also encourage even more to vote for opposition in the next GE. Opposition is the real check-and-balance on government, not president.

Singapore is a multi-racial country. We had an Eurasian president in Benjamin Sheares too.
