SIA have been doing that way before Airasia was even created. The reason why Airlines, Budget or not, use foreign stuff is mainly because of communication issues. U can't expect locals to speak so many different languages.

For example Ah Neh speaks about 30 languages. Most of them speaks Hindi or Ah Neh Engrish(which only the Ah Nehs understand anyway) so it makes sense to have 1 Ah Neh native on flights to Ah Neh land. A local Indian who speaks only Tamil or English will not be able to communicate effectively with a native Ah Neh. And frankly speaking, you probably don't want to be a service staff to native Ah Neh's anyway, they expect to be treated like Kings and scold pple like dogs if they are not treated as such
