nothing to be shocked at the news.
so how do you think those western countries raised their bail-out funds.
also by selling some of these assests and loan from other financial institutions.
it is just that they do not publish it.

The key words are "citing market rumours".

In this kind of market, CSM has to make an offer so cheap that TSMC cannot resist. Someone's head will roll.

TSMC will likely have excess capacity in the coming years. In any case, acquiring CSM will lower its overall capacity utilisation.

TSMC will have difficulty raising financing in this credit crunch. It's credit rating will fly south even if it managed to.

A share swap will send the price of TSMC reeling. Someone's head will roll.

I think it is wild rumours.

they are going to kill CSM off finally?

good. good. no point dropping money into a black hole indefinitely.

some sinkies will lose their jobs, but mostly FT/FW.

In next 3~6 month many company will start cutting manpower for sure. Many will be electronic because is an optional/acessories for consumer not to buy/upgrade eg. computer, handphone .
