The police have arrested a 37-year-old man who is believed to have outraged the modesty of an 11-year-old boy at a stairwell at Tiong Bahru shopping mall.

In a statement, the police said officers saw the pair entering the stairwell while patrolling on Saturday.

Smelling a rat, the officers followed them and found the man bare-bodied and the boy clad in his underwear. The man tried to escape but was unsuccessful. A tube of lubricant and four computer thumb drives were found on the man.

The man will be charged in court today with outrage of modesty. If convicted, he can be jailed up to five years and also fined or caned.
