SINGAPORE: Some 15 food stalls at Bedok are choosing not to join in a nationwide pledge to hold food prices for six months.
That initiative was launched by the Retail Price Watch Group (RPWG) in March.
The stall holders at Bedok Food Centre opted out of the scheme when it was launched.
Now, some stall holders who agreed to hold prices said they may have to follow suit once the pledge ends in six months.
They said despite holding prices since March, business has not improved and operating cost has gone up about 10 per cent.
The management said there are labels at the stalls to help avoid confusion.
Chairman of the Bedok Food Centre Managing Committee, Teo Teck Ngee, said: "Customers need to look out for stalls with the label that says food prices will be held for six months. If there is an intention to mislead, we hope customers do not patronise the stall."
