Marlboro Tan is the second fired minister to say that they wanted to retire after the last election. For the next election, everyone minister should be asked this question -do you intend to step down from the cabinet after the elections.

The statements by both LHL and these ex-ministers leave a bad taste in the mouth and demonstrate that one cannot and must not expect much to change, at least in the near future.

IF THEY HAD WANTED to resign from the cabinet after the elections, they should have made clear with the voters. The MIWs have been touting that their constituences would have a voice in the cabinet, the most most famous of course being Boy George who wanted a voice to transform changes from within. The electorage can then decide whether they prefer to have their voices heard on the Parliament floor rather than in the cabinet. Their promise then would have been that they will spend time to look after the constituency.

IF IT WAS LHL who, in trying to convey a benevolent/changed/transformed/ transparent government that these three had asked/offered to step down, then it is hypocrisy personified. This means that future misdemanours will continue to be sweet-talked away with no one wiser as to what really happened.

The manner of the handling of the "offers of step-downs" does not augur well for the promise of "we will do better next time" although no doubt, there is the usual caveat of "but please bear with us in the meantime."

Whatever the case, it is the electorate who, it could be rightly claimed, were misled into voting for them, in the first place.

Thats the electorate's own goddamned fault for choosing PAP. They should have known that PAP is notorious for its unethical and underhanded means. So why complain about being misled? Just like the woodlands farkers who voted PAP, now their water tank have a dead female corpse in it. Thats super unlucky and likely, the entire block will be haunted. The entire tampines, bishan toa payoh GRC deserves similar treatment. Hopefully, its a sackful of arsenic/cynide instead this time.

i still got many pals that are fans of Mah and believe HDB is Affordable..and paying 300k or 400k for a new hdb flat on 30 year loan is reasonable and normal and they dont believe in external sides as they are one sided, other than ST, Today or Tnp.....gosh so sick of daft sinkies and explaining to the wall...can anyone do the math and break it down the cost plus expenses and etc?

they would still have voted for the storm troopers. These people are not strong in the Force to vote for the Oppo.

Save your breath. I came across such fuckers. These goons really believe what PAPies once said about not disclosing the amount of reserves that S'pore has (reason quoted: due to strategic reasons).

These days the successful tenders for construction of HDB units can be accessed via PAPies website. Can estimate cost of average unit by dividing tender price over total units to be constructed. Only factor missing is the bloody land cost charged by SLA to HDB. That is the real killer.

No, voters in Hougang and Potong Pasir were short-changed by their greedy MPs who wanted a bigger pie for themselves. One went off gleefully, while the other knew it was a goner. Now they are looking for excuses, whichever is the way.

Wouldn't Selling price - Building cost = land price + HDB profits
