And not forgetting Tan Jee Say. One good thing this election has brought about is the willingness of good and capable people to come forward to serve the people.

Leong Sze Hian, Tan Kin Lian, Tan Jee Say, Tommy, Ngiam How Tong...all potential candidates. Let's made this presidential election a watershed one to compensate for the PAP WIN.

Not everyone can happy happy run for presidential election. see the quote:
" Persons who wish to run for office have to fulfil stringent qualifications set out in the Constitution in order to be issued certificates of eligibility by the Presidential Elections Committee (PEC). In particular, they must satisfy the PEC that they are persons of integrity, good character and reputation; and if they have not previously held certain key government offices or acted as chairman of the board of directors or chief executive officer of a company incorporated or registered under the Companies Act (Cap. 50, 2006 Rev. Ed.) with a paid-up capital of at least S$100 million, they must demonstrate to the PEC that they held a position of comparable seniority and responsibility in the public or private sector that has given them experience and ability in administering and managing financial affairs."

This is only HALF the problem. First, you have to get a Certificate of Fitness (I think this is the official name) in order to be nominated. See you we are all screwed? Left, right, centre, top, bottom.
