THE massive turnout at the Workers' Party's Hougang rally on Thursday night was 'not unusual by any stretch of the imagination,' said Law and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam on Friday.
Speaking to reporters after an early morning walkabout in Nee Soon South with other People's Action Party MPs from the Nee Soon GRC, he said that opposition rallies attracted crowds of such size in previous elections as well.
Thursday's WP rally, its first for this election, saw an estimated turnout of 15,000 people.
Asked why the PAP rallies fail to attract crowds of a similar size, he said that 'the reasons have been given many times'.
'What the PAP stands for, our track record, what we're going to do, it's all very clear. At the same time, there isn't too much fun and entertainment at PAP rallies either,' said Mr Shanmugam.
He welcomed the attention opposition parties are receiving at their rallies, saying: 'I think people are curious as to what they propose, what they want to do, and people want to listen, which is a good thing.'

my sources told me thats the 1st time samleong accidentally drop the soap, at the tekong camp delta coy 2nd floor toilet.:o it was then he realised his platoon mate santok singh was standing behind him.

from then on he and santok became great pals.

i plan to rehrase this with my ah boy. just in case.

During the last GE at WP Hougang Stadium rally, Straits Times reported interview with Lee Kuan Yew's grandson the insolent army officer now living the high life in USA who was there.

Li Hongyi was asked what he thought of the rally.

He replied. "Well, when the crowd cheered, I cheered along as well. But I don't what the hell they[WP] were talking about." A true scion of the purest of MIW.
