Man admits sex was on his mind

A MAN on trial for raping a 22-year-old woman two years ago said that sex was on his mind before he re-entered the room where she was.
But when asked by the prosecution earlier whether he intended to resume his sex act in the room, Ong Mingwee's answer was no.
The court heard that Ong, 28, had taken the woman home on Feb 12, 2009 after a friend had introduced the woman and another girl to him at Zouk that day. They had danced togther the whole night. He claimed that the way she danced was very sexy as if she was seducing him and he felt embarrassed.
When the club closed, Ong, who runs a family provision shop, was supposed to have taken the woman to her home. Instead, he claimed that they kissed in the cab and she agreed to go to his Toa Payoh North flat where the alleged offence occurred.
When they arrived at his home, Ong left the woman in his room while he went to the toilet and to smoke. When he returned, he found that she was crying, saying she was scared and wanted to go home. He was shocked and calmed her down, after which they tried to have sex but failed.
The woman started to cry again, andwanted to call her friend and her mother, to which Ong agreed. Ong also spoke to the woman's mother but the conversation took place in the kitchen. Subsequently, he returned to the room and found her on the bed. She was not crying any more and he said they had sex with her consent.

Asked by Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Leong Wing Tuck to explain why he had said earlier that he did not intend to resume his sex act and later said that sex was on his mind, Ong replied: 'The sex thing came naturally.''
The DPP then asked if it was fair to say that his actions showed that he was not a bit bothered about the woman's well being and the only thing he was interested in then was sex.
Ong said before he entered the room, he had thought of checking if she was all right. But when he entered the room, he found her 'sitting there like a normal person''. He said he did not think of asking after her any more.
Ong denied that he treated the woman like a sex object. He also disagreed with the DPP who said his conduct showed that he almost treated her like a 'sex slave''. The hearing continues.
