no need to be scrabble expert but the letters above forms an easy to remember word, has a nice ring to it and also represents one of our national icons which occupies most households ....GECKO hosp
I think TTSH should be renamed Moulmein Hospital. KTPH should be renamed Yishun or Nee Soon Hospital. I understand Yishun is a personal name too, same as Nee Soon, just spelt differently, but the same personal name in Chinese. However, it has become a locational name. Hospitals should be named by location. Donors and patrons can be honored within with special plaques, monuments, suites etc.

I disagree. Naming the hospital after someone is a way we preserve our history. We have little to speak of and its a good way to remember pple of the past. Most of us probably would not know a person named Tan Tock Seng ever existed if he was just a plaque on a wall somewhere in the hostpital. Instead we now remember him as the one who donated money to build the hospital. Sure he was a rich men but pple remember him for his philanthropic ways rather then him being rich
If MM open mouth, at least 300 million bucks no problem. The porlumpars will contribute to curry favour or repay past favours. All RC and CCC chairmen sure contribute. Big-time bizmen PAP supporters sure contribute just to shake hand with MM and PM.

Anyway, the most revolting is Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.
Most road and place names are already named after the famous and the dignitaries in history, and these names become naturalized and take for granted after a couple of generations. Frankly, how many people know who's Tan Tock Seng? The old redbrick National Library with a plate at the gate saying Lee Kong Chian I found to be more noticeable and noteable. Anyway, the most revolting is Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.
Unlike you, I recognise LKY as one of the founding fathers of Singapore. However, I feel that nothing (other than ships) should be named after a living person.
