I wonder how do be a real soldier ?

I　ｓａｗ　ｏｎ　Ｎａｔｉｏｎａｌ　Ｇｅｏ　ｏｎ　ｈｏｗ　ｄｏｅｓ　ａ　ｓｏｌｄｉｅｒ　ｉｓ　ｂｅｉｎｇ　ｓｅｌｅｃｔｅｄ　ｔｏ　ｔｒａｉｎ　ｔｏ　ｂｅｃｏｍｅ　ａ　ＧＲＥＥＮBERET. The selection interview is about 2 weeks. They will put you through hell even before the training started.

Imagine, we have to fight our way to KL　ｉｆ　ａｌｌ　ｔｈｅ　ｒｏａｄ　ｉｓ　ｂｅｉｎｇ　ｔａｋｅｎ　ｏｕｔ．Ｗｅ　ｈａｖｅ　ｔｏ　ｗａｌｋ　ｔｈｒｏｕｇｈ　ｔｈｅ　ｊｕｎｇｌｅ　ｏｆ　ＪＢ　．．．．．

Don't know if you guys are familiar with the comic book story of Steve Rogers who took the super soldier serum and became Captain America.

I always thought some of the parents thought SAF had a super soldier program.

Turning skinny unfit book smart geeks into muscle bound fighting machines.

Maybe some bright spark out there will come up with another "course". The "Captain Singapore Super Soldier Program".

We have a similar programme in SAF, its called SOF

They will invite all regulars to a recruitment talk and show them fancy videos of some of their training, it all looks very macho and all. During "Hell week" then they know how jia lak it is

I know the defense of Singapore shld rightfully the business of Singaporeans...but if I think, hey LKY don't even trust Singaproeans to defend him but ring himself with gurkhas...why don't we import a few battalions of gurkhas to defend Singapore?

Since they are proven to be mentally and physically fitter than us...ok, the Mas selamat escape one side...its a blip.

Very valid points indeed. Unfortunately, NS is needed to 'brainwash' 18 year old young men to be obedient and compliant to orders from above. It is the second and last part of conditioning the populace to remain servants to the masters.

still remember Jack Neo's talks on recruit training. he said the most effective way to prepare for recruit training was not physical trainings. merely engage someone to scold you, use the most pervert, unshameful words to scold - completed until the trainee got no reaction to these kind of scolding..

Crap to need a course before NS. Just go there and do it. Nothing there is designed to kill you. It's all designed to teach you how to kill somebody else.

Very true, NS is more mental than the physical you haave to put up. If someone can tolerate the verbal and mental abuses dished out throughout 2 years and remains sane; he is made for life.

The high point is being immune to the nonsense.
