StarHub billing shock for family

MY FAMILY and I had a rude shock when we received our StarHub bill in September for $505.04, when our usual bill amounted to $44.94.

We were charged an early termination fee of $430 as well as subscription fees since April. We had neither terminated nor changed our subscription plan and had paid our bills promptly through Giro.

When we called StarHub's customer support, the staff member acknowledged that there was a billing error as the firm had recently upgraded its billing system, and the amendment would be made in the next bill.

I asked if the full amount of $505.04 would be deducted by Giro and she said "yes", as it had "already gone into the billing system" and there was nothing she could do about it.

Our October and November bills arrived, and we were charged $44.94 each month; the excess of $460.10 that we had paid has not been refunded.

This was even after my mother had gone to the StarHub store at Tampines Mall to clarify matters after we received our October bill.

We are extremely disappointed with the way StarHub has dealt with this matter.

now in singapore, bad service is a norm while good service is an exception. diff from 10-15 years ago.
another bad performer is performance motors, you would expect a high standard from such a top brand but i think the japanese or korean car dealer may be doing a better job at after sales or manning the customer hotline. I have to wait up to 3 weeks for PML to answer a simple question.

I also learnt never to use giro payment. its for their convenient. I wonder how many ppls have been overcharged and the amount deducted from their giro without realising it at all...

I agree with munny123 110%. Whats with the service consumers are getting these days? We are paying more, getting less.

I also got disappointing service from Singtel. I wasnt informed of the expired promotion till i got my bill, and saw the cost. One of the worse shock I had in awhile. I got a used number, receive calls every week for 2yrs and sms every night after 930pm. I dont want to change my number as I dont find any reason to go through all the hassle when it is their mistake, not mine.

Service quality is dropping everywhere. Negligence and incompetency are increasing.
So never pay by GIRO to avoid going through the hassle of dealing with fools.

Harlow, you got read properly or not. They are under GIRO so the amount was deducted automatically.

This is the reason why I dun have GIRO payments.
