Question abt Tablet PCs running on Android OS

I notice most Tablet PCs running on Android OS , have system
memory either 128 MB or 256 MB.

Most of the mfrs do not state if this can be expanded.
They are silent on this.

Is this limitation due to the Android OS ?
Or are they simply saving on costs ?

hmm...maybe the system designer intended it to be a lite and client os...
