<<<Star Search started out as a Singapore local talent show, restricted to residents of Singapore. In 1999, the show expanded to include regions such as Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Guangzhou (China).

The show's theme song was composed by Chen Jia Ming and Iskandar Ismail.>>>

Singaporean locals not talented is it? Still wasting taxpayers' money to find talents overseas once again...

I fully agree. These foreign-born Sinkaporeans are natural, accomplished and polished! Local comperes are over-the-top, tried too hard and in the process come across as amateurish, jarring, uninspiring and even irritating.

Some of the contestants are still alright lah...they must also know how to act...

They are all unpolished yet.

Look at Ann Kok, Lai Yi Ling, then and after Star Search. So different.

Even Quan Yi Feng's bust upsize already

Hmmmm... 3 Singaporean guys and only 1 Singaporean gal qualified for the finale tonight... Must show them support...

Star Search is a joke for aspiring wannabes gunning for a shot at mediocre local productions. In U.S actors consider acting as a craft. In Sinkie?

Please la, mediacorpse shows all becoming like mass religion study preaching show with many subtle preachings say traditional chinese religion fuck up and sponsor religion damn good. I don't even want to watch the fuckup productions anymore.

Mediacorp Star Search 10 is being unfair to the Singaporean finalists...

by May Seah 08:01 AM Dec 06, 2010A star was officially found at the Star Search 2010 Grand Finals last night at the MediaCorp TV Theatre. Twenty-two-year-old Jeffrey Xu (left) from Shanghai won the champion's trophy, along with $30,000 in cash and a two-year contract with MediaCorp.

The second runner-up was 20-year-old Peggy Lin, also from Shanghai. Singaporean Adeline Lim, 22, came in third. They received $10,000 and $5,000, respectively. The scores were determined by a panel of judges comprising MediaCorp deputy CEO (Television) Chang Long Jong; MediaCorp senior vice-president of Chinese Drama Productions Kok Len Shoong; MediaCorp artistes Zoe Tay and Fann Wong; and Hong Kong artistes Lawrence Cheng Tan Shui and Ha Yu.

The three-hour 'live' show was hosted by Quan Yifeng, Dasmond Koh and Guo Liang, with Minister for Information, Communication and the Arts Lui Tuck Yew (centre) presiding as guest-of-honour. Applauding the winner is MediaCorp CEO Lucas Chow.

Ten finalists from Singapore, Malaysia and China showed off their talent in song-and-dance numbers, in a question-and-answer segment which tested their eloquence, as well as by re-enacting scenes from MediaCorp dramas. In the audience were Star Search alumni including Lina Ng, Jazreel Low and Chew Chor Meng.

'I never imagined I'd be the champion!' Xu told Today. 'The best I had hoped for was to place in the top three.' In his acceptance speech, a teary Xu said: 'I've been lucky. So many people have helped me. Everyone has worked hard; everyone is a champion.'

the mainlanders sweep the prizes for 1 simple reason, they can read/memorize the chinese scripts better than the locals.
