How many of you are willing to settle down in Taiwan if given the chance ?

You get guaranteed earthquakes once every two months, and typhoon once a year. The mega earthquake like the one which occurred on 21/09/1999 happens once every hundred years, with the next one likely to take place in Tainan.

However, the piece of land is good for farming and plantation. Taiwan fruits are cheap and delicious. It's not difficult to gain a Taiwan passport because they welcome new migrants as Taiwanese are not producing enough. The healthcare is excellent, especially if you don't have an insurance. Pay something like SGD20 a month, and you don't to worry about falling sick and hospitalization bills.

If you're young and looking for a lover, Taiwan has many places where you can add spice to your romantic venture. A few hours drive will bring you to scenic spots. And if you're into Japan and Korea, it's very cheap to travel from Taiwan to these countries.

Or would you prefer to remain in Singapore because of earthquakes and typhoons in Taiwan ?

Can you elaborate more?

In Singapore, where would you bring your lover to ? To the cinema ? To the packed restaurant ? Cruise along PIE and ECP ? Or a day outing at fake island called Sentosa ?

Taiwan is practically littered with hotspring with beautiful accommodation if you're prepared to stay overnight. If you live in Taiwan long enough, Taiwan is more than just Sun Moon Lake and Danshui River. Even the motels in the cities are top notch.

Within Taiwan, every county is easily accessible via railway and bullet train. The railway is top class, to say the least. It's like traveling in SQ business class cabin.

The cars are cheap, as major Japanese auto manufacturers have assembly plants in Taiwan. Go to www.ocar.com.tw and see for yourself the prices of cars in Taiwan. Divide the amount by 23 and you get the SGD equivalent.

If you migrate to Taiwan, won't you become a nationless person??

And your kid won't have an english education ?

So are you implying that Singapore is your preferred choice ?

What is the problem with being 'nationless' ? You get to live in a landed property, drive big but cheap cars, eat better food etc. Your passport will still get you around the world.

You worried about English ? Have you seen Ma Ing Jeou on CNN ?

Taiwan is a lovely place to live.
Besides the fantastic scenery in certain parts of the country, there is also a vibrant entertainment and shopping scene, delicious food at reasonable prices, weather is nice and not too extreme, people are generally warm and friendly with a strong sense of fairness, government is usually responsive to peoples' complaints due to the political climate. Once I walked along the streets of Taipei at 3am in the morning and couldn't tell what time it was, the street scene looked like 10pm in most countries.

Possible downsides are natural disasters, and the occasional civil unrest from protestors or criminal activities from the presence of triads.

QSD, since you love Taiwan so much, when do you plan to get a passport and a permanent visa, instead of shuttling between Taiwan and Thailand?

I can't stand Taiwan TV dramas

How about politician fitting while camera is rolling...pretty entertaining you know.
The drama serial is a pain to watch....totally agree. I remember the old martial arts drama, want to fight , then talk and talk, pull out sword and then talk and talk, after all the bullshit, they said not fighting you now. :D:D:D Politician better action, no talk just fight ....Hood-ah

The scenery and food of the renegade province can never compare to the magnificence in the mainland.

The people have no culture, and apes the West and particularly, Japan. Their incredible asslicking of the Japs is almost the same as the darks with the white disease Brits. The renegade animals' English is pretty garbage like much of the rest of Asia outside Singapore, but their Japanese, is good. Not sure if real Chinese people should proudly master a bastard subculture wa language over their mother tongue.

Their dumb and empty youth expect you to whore up to the Japs with them in appearance, fashions, etc or they'd despise you. The cities, are boring, and lack character and class. They cannot compare to neighboring cities like Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai, or even Hong Kong.

Politically they have an uncertain future. It all depends on their attitude towards mainland China in terms of conciliation. Unfortunately, because more than half of these people are found to be rebellious and support provincial independence and promotion to that of a "country" they are not making things any easier as many of their own rubbish filth kind have also already made plans and have fled or are fleeing the province for other countries including Singapore.

So all in all the renegade province is easily the WORST place to visit or even, if you dare, reside in Asia. Even South Korea is way better.

The reason they grovel to US and Jap is because China keep threatening them wanting to take back ROC. I tell you if China 1 day tell them 1 nation 2 system like HK most of the people in Taiwan won't mind merging back cept maybe the traids and those gangster style politicians.

You must understand that applying for a foreign passport is unlike applying for a telephone line. One must work out a strategy and overcome the red tapes. It's unlike Singapore where citizenship and PR are forever on jumble sale.

When ? In the pipeline. I don't have relatives in either country, so each time I have to 投石問路。It is not as if I have a ready made support base in a foreign country to receive me.

when I was there, a taiwanese friend brought me to their SPA,sauna, massage. Whoa lan eh! eye opener for me, inside the deco is like the romanian era. The place is very huge, got beds for you to rest and sleep,a coffee place for you to watch TV and and read porno, newspaper. Then some women will come out and ask if you want massage, brought me to a special room. Their style is they like to use their fingernails aka tiger claw and scratch your back to make you steam too bad for me, i dun appreciate that!;)
The bathing area is those jap style type, you sit on the stool infront of the shower.

Besides this, i remembered once, some angmo and taiwanese female colleagues hired a striptease to perform at a shopspace after work, like those shophouses you can find in Singapore. Booze and so on until 3 to 4 am,damn shiok! :D

The best part is my office is on level above Ma Ying Jeou(He was not president then) Sometimes, you get to see student protesters and TV station pple hoarding ard the building.

when I was there, every nite, i will go visit my Friend's father who has a restaurant there. We will drink and make merry until after midnite. His taiwanese staff and friends will come join us, tok cock, sing song, drink taiwan beer... Damn shiok!:)

Comeon like the pot calling the kettle black.

oops! btw, taiwanese females are very friendly, the working class, those in my office. I like to always 请教 them on work matters.:p Others, I am not sure. One thing I observe is that taiwanese workers are very disciplined, very japanese style in their work.

I think Taiwan is more comfortable for living and the Govt has to subsidize the farmers. That's why fruits are quite cheap. Afterall, they are a democratic country where they have people fighting for their rights.
They have a good medical insurance system actually. Tax the rich to help the poor.
