Damnit, who burnt my Lambo?

Based on the technical definition, the net assets of a person does not include the value of his place of accomodation.
The value of a property would only be counted if it is an investment property.

Technically you are correct, but still, even if you had $1m cash on top of your place of residence, you would still be stretched or fool hardy to buy a Lambo or Ferrari.

Oh that I definitely agree.

Excellent Analysis Ali-baba Singapore Thief!

It's a face saving and money saving measure by the Lamborghini and Ferrari owners...

my contributions;

These cars are really an expensive toy (liability) It doesn't really have a any good ROI, except that with these cars, you get to attract many pretty babes.

If the pretty babes only sarong party with you for a couple of weeks, then it's fine, but when you end up having many ministresses due to your expensive toy, then you're really looking for more liabilities in your life... haha.

Hey Ali-baba Singapore Thief, any more interesting inside news?

Have you checked my thread about how you are being profiled when you enter the CASINOs in Singapore?

Got some one there that does not want to believe it's true.

Like your views on that as well as I have overheard from several sources.

My contention is that there are way too many cars going up in smoke nowadays as compared to yesteryear.

And these are not cheap or old cars.

Maybe there is a new insurance scam that we are unaware of.

Yeah, I tend to agree with you Ali-Baba Singapore Thief.

The whole point is, its too much of a coincidence to have so many luxurious cars go up in smoke in such a short time line.

Either the owners couldn't pay the upkeep of these expensive toys, or some one have an agenda to destroy all these expensive toys (due to jealousy), or even a mix of both.

If it's the former, how about asking some expert car jackers to do a gone in 60 seconds, may be more profitable that way... hehe.

Of course millionaires don't buy these flashy cars, they can't afford it, multi-millionaires with net worth of $8 million and up and billionaires then can buy.

These days even HDB and mass market 99 LH condo owners in the heartlands are near millionaires, or millionaires these days.

How come I don't see LKY, LHL,... driving Lambos  Maybe got no space for all the bodyguards :D

If you think they are not rich enough can look at Bill Gates who drives a Porche 911, Steve Jobs a Merc. Warren Buffet drives an american made car

I have even heard of some of Spores rich getting around in taxis. Those who have made their millions know the value of $$$ & don't need to impress anyone with flashy cars. They still lead simple lives even though they are rich.

The term rich to you, may not be rich to me.

The term rich to you, may not be rich to me.

There are many "rich' in Spore who get their money from dubious sources such as LKY. LHL,..

So too are there people got rich honestly like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Warren Buffet,...., the guy who owns Ikea

My point is that not all rich people feel a need to show off

79% of "rich" in Singapore are ALL WANNEBEs. The rest of the 20% all have FT bloodline lah.

Only 1% true Singaporeans are rich like the UOB Wees.
;)

The 80/20 principle applies to the "rich" wannabees as well as in any other areas of life.

Hey Ali-baba Singapore Thief, any more interesting inside news?

U two don't know what u are talking about. A Lambo, Ferrari, Rolls, etc. is a personal reward for hard work and getting to where u are. If you are successful in life, sacrificed a lot, than u want to reward yourself. U buy a Lambo not to impressed other people but as a reward to yourself. U buy it also because u respect the technology, engineering, workmanship, etc. that went into this Lambo. Its hand assembled versus your Kia or other econoboxes. 10 years from now, your Kia would be worthless, but your Lambo will still be worth 6 figures. That is not bad from an investment viewpoint.
