McAfee bug reveals a rift in the Wintel alliance

Intel never upgraded to Vista or Windows 7

THE MCAFEE BUG that caused huge problems for Windows XP systems this week has revealed something deeply embarrassing for the WinTel alliance.
According to the Oregonian newspaper, lots of PCs at Intel were laid low by the bug because it had not listened to the Vole's marketing and upgraded to Vista or Windows 7.
In fact while Intel claims to be at the bleeding edge of hardware technology, it did not think that Vista or Windows 7 were worth the upgrade.
The information is almost as embarrassing to Microsoft as if it came out that Intel was running nothing but Linux boxes.
The Vole has been telling the world plus dog that they have to upgrade for the sake of Microsoft's profits, er, security.
Microsoft has been pouring scorn on companies that thought the old but stable Windows XP was good enough for business ever since Vista was released. However meanwhile its number one business partner was whistling in the background and occasionally pointing into the horizon saying, "Oh look, an elephant!"
For years Intel's chips have enabled the churn of ever more bloated Microsoft operating systems. As a result punters who have wanted to run the latest Microsoft software have had to buy new, faster computers with Intel chips.
This went really well until Vista arrived late in 2006, full of bugs and incompatibilities. Intel was just one of about 90 per cent of businesses that decided, we will sit this one out.
When Windows 7 arrived last year it was too new to deploy and besides Intel, like many businesses, had cut its budget back to ride out the recession.
It's not as if Intel had tried to hide the fact that it had not upgraded to Vista or Windows 7. However most of the tech press assumed that Intel would have been in the queue on day one. The fact that it wasn't gives the thumbs up to most other outfits that, like Intel, could not see the point in upgrading. µ

People still wasting money and precious time on MS Craps... sad sad wastage of resources, especially time & labor costs.

Even Intel does not support their biggest partner MS!

Because it is too big a sucker to support them.

Apple also recently dropped Intel and went to AMD for CPU chips.

Win-Tel is loser, those paying for their products are even bigger losers. :-(

Smarter users buy AMD & use Linux / Unix or Mac OS. :-)

Most user or 80% user do not need Dual core/Core 2 to run the PC. No need Win 7.,
Win Xp already very good and stable. I never intend to upgrade in next 2 year. Unless PC break down.
Really dont understand why so many Q up on the 1st day Win 7.
Even until now more than 90% of the company still using XP.
Everytime there new product lunch there will be many people Q up(99% are teenager they are low IQ) do they need it so urgent ? No, just want to show OFF.

I'm still using XP with an Intel i7 processor and don't feel a need to upgrade to Win 7.

Intel processors are still faster than AMD processors. Had to go with the fastest processor because I'm using some heavy duty apps that are only available for windows.

Here is a secret, Intel don't need to run M$ windows to design their chips. In fact, they don't! Why is it such a surprise that they don't? In fact, I don't want Intel to design chips specifically for M$ or vice versa. I want any chip with open specification so that other OS, linux, BSD, opensolaris, even windows will run on them.

Most people already have 64bit Dual Core CPU but the sad thing with XP & Vista is that 95% are running ONLY 32bit (MS) OS due to the NOTORIOUS MS DRIVER ISSUE.

What a HUGE wastage of Technology & Resources!

That means millions & millions of users (majority) are ONLY USING HALF OF THE CPU THEY HAD PAID FOR AND OWN.:eek::(

By using only 32bit OS on 64 bit CPU Chip, only half of your CPU powers are used, the more powerful half is ALWAYS ASLEEP like the PAP million dollar ministers!:(

The most popular reason is 64bit drivers of MS mostly no available or unlicensed. Sad thing indeed. Linux won't be so ridiculous.

Go to your computer properties & if you see either AMD64 or Core 2 Dua that means 64bit CPU, and it say Vista 32 bit OS. Then confirmed you had been made sucker!:(;)
