My Malay staff just came back from Korea with her daughters. Could find halal food in Seoul and Incheon, but sometimes had to drive out for an hour to get to the restaurant. She found it quite stressful having to ascertain whether a cafe or restaurant is halal or not. Otherwise it was quite an enjoyable trip. These outer observances and rites are really holding back Islam from modernising in the 21st century. Also limit travel options for Muslims - when I recommend a new travel destination to my Malay friends, their first question is always: "Got halal food or not?"
