I was never the kind of wife that was overly jealous of my husband. I'd grown up believing that a marriage is based on trust and I had always trusted my husband. So, when he began to act differently, I had no idea what was going on.
Started to come home earlier and more often
He started to spend more and more time at home and was very secretive about what he was doing. At first I thought it was good that he wanted to be more at home but I started to observe that he was not himself.
He also started to act strangely around our young and pretty Indo maid, who we had hired to help with the housework. I started to get suspicious when he began to treat her with more respect than he ever had before and also exchanged looks and smiled to her more often
I finally decided to confront him about it and when I did, he became very angry. He accused me of being jealous and told me that he was going to marry our maid. He then chased me out of the house and said that I was no longer welcome there.
I couldn't believe what was happening. I was so hurt and confused and I had no idea what had caused my husband to act this way.
Started to think that maybe he kena her 'gong tao'
Then I remembered something that my aunt had told me once. She said that sometimes people can get a spell casted or in Singaporean terms 'Gong Tao' on them by someone they know.
I started to think that maybe our maid had done something like this to my husband. It was the only explanation that made sense.
I tried to talk some sense into my husband but it did not seemed to work. He was still obsessed with our Indonesian maid and when I said that I would send her back home, he raged at me and packed my stuff and threw me out and demanded a divorce.
I was so upset and I felt like I had failed my husband. I had done everything I could to protect him and yet it didn't work. I had no idea what else to do and I felt completely helpless.
I eventually accepted that my husband was going to marry our maid and that there was nothing I could do to stop it. I moved out of the house and tried to move on with my life.
But I was always haunted by the thought that my husband had been under some kind of spell. I still don't know if he ever found out the truth or if he ever realized what had been done to him.
