The S'pore govt strictly forbids dual citizenship past the age of 21. For a pro player earning a living in the UK, giving up a British passport is a massive risk. It complicates their legal status, work permits and long-term residency in Europe. Perry Ng is currently a right-back and former Player of the Year for Cardiff City. Unlike others who merely have the link, Ng has actively pushed to play for S'pore. He attained S'pore PR and has spent international breaks training with the Lions. As he is applying for citizenship via the Foreign Sports Talent Scheme, he will eventually have to renounce his British passport. As he is 29-years-old, he does not have many more years to represent S'pore in his prime.
