Escalating inflation in private healthcare is obviously unsustainable. The reality is that private medical care is a business where operators of clinics are responsible to their partners or shareholders in terms of profits and dividends.

The days of rampant overcharging are almost over as more well-informed patients opt for public healthcare. If one has an appt at a specialist outpatient clinic, the waiting time is quite bearable. Foreigners who don't qualify for subsidies are still seeing private specialists. As businessmen, private docs would charge along the upper limits of fee guidelines, which remain as such - merely guidelines.

When our doctors circumvent the rules, they are hauled to court. When our politicians bend the rules, they sue the whistleblowers.

Interesting choice. So many legal ways to make money, yet the dark side still won.

The dark side is usually the path of least resistance. Depending on who you are, the dark side may escape punishment and even financial gain from suing one's accuser or whistle blower into silence, since no judge will dare to rule against an authoritarian govt.

In a true democracy they would be investigated and charged.
It is disconcerting that Goh Jin Hian keeps getting his trial postponed to a later date. Is his father pulling the strings in the background in the hope that the judge dies of old age and the prosecutors suffer from dementia?
