I held open the heavy glass door to allow a CECA couple enter behind me recently, but both these tenants at my condo simply looked through me as if I was invisible.

A very charming and polite CECA tourist lady approached me near Maxwell hawker centre and asked me for directions to Chinatown. I asked her which part of Chinatown. She replied any part will do. I told here she's already in Chinatown. She smiled, thanked me and left.

This happened a few years ago, back when wearing a mask in public was mandatory.

To them you are their doorman since you opened the door to them. It is your honour to be able to open the door for them. What is there to thank you?
If you can get them to open and hold the door for you, that is where you are deemed higher caste than them. Thats why until now they cannot integrate to our society.
But we have to treat them as lord and we integrate well into their caste system.

Why do so many Indians in S'pore and Malaysia claim to be Eurasians and so many Roman Catholics in India claim to be descendants of the Portuguese? Do they believe that it accords them a higher status than other Indians? Since many Indians take on their father's name as their surname, it makes them sound Eurasian.
